DTE Substations (65+)
Project Overview
NTH Consultants, Ltd. provided the geotechnical engineering services to DTE for either newly planned substations or for the expansion and improvements of the existing substations. The majority of these sites were located across Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne Counties.
Project Scope
NTH performed geotechnical explorations at each site which included test borings and field soil resistivity testing. NTH also evaluated the condition of the both the soil and the groundwater, as well as the soil corrosivity.
NTH then developed detailed geotechnical reports for DTE including recommendations for the foundation design and construction at each site. Throughout the duration of our services, NTH work included coordination with the designer and DTE, to ensure collaboration between all parties and to promote open communication.
Once construction began, NTH stayed with the project, providing material testing services during the foundation installation and construction monitoring.
Client Benefit
Looking beyond standard geotechnical test borings, NTH provides a wide array of services to DTE including field soil resistivity & corrosivity testing, evaluation of soil and groundwater conditions, and construction monitoring and material testing. NTH works in close coordination with DTE, their designers, and other contractors to provide cost-effective foundation options for difficult subsurface conditions.
